General information
The Centre is located in North –West Alluvial Plain Agro Climatic Zone of North India. It lies in Indo Gangatic alluvium Plains at an altitude of 45.75m above mean sea level at 25 014’15’ N latitude and 87 0 04’ 44 E longitude. It has sub-tropical agro climate with dry sub humid climate, moderate rainfall and cool winter. The average annual rainfall is about 1100 to 1200 mm. Most of the rainfall is received between the months of June and September. The maximum temperature of the hottest month of May and June are the hottest month when average maximum temperature goes up to 400 January and February are usually the coldest month when and the minimum average temperature falls as low as 80C. The soil of the sites alluvial having silt loam textured with pH range of 6.8 to 7.5 with moderate organic carbon of 0.4 to 0.5 per cent, low in Phosphorus and has medium range of potassium (151.85 kg/ha).
