A total of 140 accessions were collected and being maintained in the Field Gene Bank at CPCRI-Regional Station, Vittal, Karnataka. Out of which 117 indigenous ecotypes of arecanut were collected from different parts of India as well as 23 exotic accessions introduced from other areca growing countries of the world especially South-East Asian countries. Growth and yield characteristics were described and documented. The introduction of germplasm and evaluation has been so far significant which resulted in release of high yielding varieties through selection and also contributed much to locate donor parents for desirable traits, which are being exploited in breeding programmes. Details of the above have been presented in this germplasm database.
