Description

The Genus Burkholderia contains organisms that are important causes of human, animal and plant disease. The type species B. cepacia is important in all of these activities. Burkholderia species are Gram-negative, aerobic, chemoorganotrophic, rod-shaped bacteria. They are able to degrade a large variety of organic compounds with the exception of the one carbon-compounds.
