Distribution & Habitat:
Moist slopes of the Columbian Andes, South America.

Description:
An extremely tall (to 60m) feather palm, with a wax covered crownshaft, and leaf underside, which gives it a silvery grey colouring.

General:
One of the worlds tallest palms. Humboldt described these as "a forest over the forest".
