 Distribution & Habitat:
 Cool rainforests at medium to high elevations in Central Mexico.
 
 Description:
 A small palm, up to about 2m tall, either solitary or clumping, with dark green pinnate leaves. The most notable thing about this palm is that the inflorescence arises from near, or below ground level.
