Significant achievements	1. Scientifically studied about the Floral Biology and Reproductive behaviour of Nigella sativa L. under arid and semi arid climate of Ajmer, Rajasthan 2. As a curator of Nigella sativa L. germplasms characterized, evaluated and scientifically managed available germplasms 3. Total oil analysis for diversity in fatty acid composition and antioxidant property among the Nigella sativa L. germplasms aided in identification of two unique type of germplasms • AN-23 - being most suitable to be used in breeding programme for edible oil due to its unique and desirable fatty acid combinations i.e., higher oil content, PUFA, linoleic acid, 11, 14-Eicosadienoic acid, P/S, (M þ P)/S and ER with lower contents i.e., saturated; palmitic and stearic acids. • AN-4 - has a combination of higher PUFA, linolenic, linoleic acid, flavonoid, higher antioxidant contents and LDR as well as good amount of FC, AC, SC. Suitable to be utilized for enhancing storage period of oil.
