Significant achievements	• Quantified biomass production in the coconut based high density multispecies cropping system. The total biomass removed from the system ranged from 19.1 tones to 27.6 tones/ha/year. Recycling of these waste through vemicomposting could effect huge savings through import substitution of expensive chemical fertilizers .This will improve the soil physico chemical properties of the coconut growing soils and improve the coconut productivity on a sustainable basis. Further the reduction of chemical NPK requirement would resulted in saving of precarious foreign exchange reserve.• The biomass production from coconut and other component crops in the coconut based high density multispecies cropping system gives an idea that how much quantity of recyclable and ploughed back in to the system through vermicomposting. The findings answer the quantity of biomass available for recycling in the coconut based farming system
