SLUG CATERPILLAR

Main Host: Coconut

Occurrence:

It's a sporadic pest on coconut with peak population in post monsoon and summer months. Besides coconut they also feed on banana.

Damage:

The caterpillar feeds gregariously on entire lamina leaving the midrib alone. The caterpillars resemble slug with spines all over their body.

Management :

•  Spray carbaryl 0.1%, monocrotophos / chlorpyriphos 0.05 %

•  Predators like Cantheconidia furficullata are also effective in managing the pest.
