Caterpillar feeds from undersurface of the leaflet by scrapping the green tissues leave upper epidermis intact which give a glistening appearance. During severe infestation caterpillars feed on the entire leaf lamina leaving behind mid rib.
Management
Establish light traps in endemic tracts proved effective in monitoring the pest incidence.
Mechanical removal and destruction of the pests during initial stage of infestation.
Cutting and burning the infested fronds in order to spread the infestation.
